The Diary of our wait for Emma, somewhere in China

hello,
Yesterday was E's one year checkup...she has grown 2.50 inches since August 18th and gained a pound. The Doc said if she wasn't so active, more weight would have shown up, but this mouse is on the move, non-stop, all day long. She is now 30 inches tall, which puts her in the 85th percentile, but she is still on the skinny side, despite moving up to the 17th percentile in weight, but the weight is not a concern, she's just a tiny person like I was as a kid. She received 5 vaccinations and a flu shot, so today is she running a temperature and a smidge unhappy, but nothing that tylenol isn't helping. During yesterday's visit, while waiting in the exam room, I realized 2 more teeth have poked through on the bottom, so that is 7 teeth; almost halfway to the first 20 toofers toddlers develop.
Toofers are popping in weekly...feels like it anyway. Emma is now working on her 3rd upper tooth as of yesterday and is miserable. Last night she kept waking up screaming her head off between 9pm-11pm, but then settled in after a dose of Tylenol. We feel really bad for her...it's so interesting that some kids aren't bothered by teething, but then others are in extreme pain. I knew when I was feeding her bottle it was going to be a rough night for her because she kept moving the bottle left to right and biting down really hard. Today she has been walking around chewing/tearing into her bib, plus whiny and inconsolable. Anything that makes her mouth feel better is our motto...she could chew on my shoe if that would help! :O
Aloha! We are back from Hawaii! Getting to and from Hawaii was rough as Emma is a whole lot of loco on airplanes, but once there, she was fine. She is "that kid" that people dread being seated near; even Benadryl didn't help on the way home despite the flights being in-line with nap and bedtimes. As I type, we have been awake for about 40+ hours now...we arrived home at 6:30am and there was no going to bed today other than her naptimes, but she held it together all day with minimal whining.
We have been hangin' loose this weekend as Emma has been sneezing, drooling, screaming and clinging to us like crazy. Sunday we took her to Children's Urgent Care because after 3 days of being fussier than normal, we thought she might have an ear infection; we didn't want to board the plane to Hawaii with an ear infection! The ears are all clear, so we think it is the teething causing her to pull on her ear. Teething is kicking her butt and we all can't wait for those toofers to drop down already to give the kiddo some relief.
Emma is now waking without tears and screaming. Over the last week, she is definitely more comfortable in her new home and daily routine. When she wakes now, she stands up, grabs onto the rail then sits back down and plays for a bit in her crib before calling out to us. Our monitor has video and we LOVE watching her explore the crib and play with the blankets and animals. The other day Emma was playing peek-a-boo with herself and Doug caught a glimpse of her standing in the center of the crib bouncing around. When we retrieve her from the crib, she gives us the biggest grin and makes a crazy, "aahhh" sound, like she just took a sip of a refreshing Coca-cola.
