Playdate

We had a playdate at the Dayton Mall last Saturday with another little girl from Nanchang.  It took Emma awhile to warm up, but in the end, well, you can see in the pictures that Emma more than warmed up! We had lunch together and Emma sat in a big chair all by herself since there was only one highchair available...I did not expect the newness of a big chair to go over well and expected her to fidget vs. eating, but she did great!

By the time we left the mall, it was approaching naptime, so I had to sing, count and do whatever it took to keep Emma awake on the 40 minute drive home.  She passed out on me for about 2 minutes, so I pulled over to pump gas and handed her a snack cup to keep her busy the rest of the ride.  We look forward to another playdate!

Shoes and stuff

Emma is addicted to shoes right now.  If there is a pair of our shoes in the open, she has to try them on.  Emma also knows that shoes belong near the door...tonight Gramma Cheryl stopped by and Emma put her shoes by the door.

Over the weekend and into this week, Emma is experiencing the terrible 2 behaviors.  Everything gets a "no" and we even had our first meal refusal last night.  We tricked Emma an hour later by feeding her a snack which was really her dinner.

She is getting fits of frustration where she throws objects at the ground or us and in general has moments of unreasonableness.  I googled, "how long do the terrible 2's last" and wish I hadn't, lol.  Apparently they can last all the way until 5.  :O

Bed Head

She is addicted to showing off her belly...

Best of Friends

They are really only best friends when the patio door is open. The rest of the day, Sport watches Emma perched on the back of the couch trying to avoid her. Sometimes Sport looks at me like he is saying, "Why did you bring this other animal into our home?". We try to encourage Emma to be gentle and pet only their heads, but no matter how many times we tell her, she goes straight for their tails and gets hissed at. Miah is more tolerant of Emma's "petting" and she runs versus hissing when she has had enough. At 15 years old, Sport is a grumpy old man and less tolerant! Emma loves the cats though and will chase after them making a kissing sound, wanting to give them a hug and the cats are like, "No way, I'm outta here" and run behind the couches. Emma doesn't give in easy though and will chase them all the way to the hiding spots.
