The Library

I've taken Emma to toddler time at the Library a few times now, trying out several locations and I think we like the one right in our little downtown the best...Emma seems to enjoy storytime once she gets warmed up, but they are all a little too long for this age group.  The last 20 minutes of the 1 hour class, most of the kids go rogue, including Emma...today Emma splayed out on the floor and was playing with her feet, and a few of the other kids were showing off their belly buttons or running around...chaotic...good thing the Library is closed during this AM toddler time.

The Library is a great  FREE, program...they sing songs, talk about letters, read a book, then do a craft that kids can do while there or take home.  I decided it would be fun to let Emma have her very own library card today and we checked out two books after storytime...surprisingly, she even willingly let me put the library card in my wallet for safe keeping.  She was very excited to show her daddy the new library card and books.   Emma was nervous at story time, blowing her finger the whole time, but she participated...she was the only child singing the songs and the only one that new what letter her first name began with...she actually told them her full name, then spelled out E-M-M-A.  So proud!

When we returned home, Emma told Doug she was nervous at the library...she said "nervous" because I told her she didn't have to be nervous as I was trying to keep her from picking her lip apart.  Emma then re-enacted the entire Library hour to Doug...she played her "guitar"(ukulele), sang itsy bitsy spider, showed off the spider puppet (using an oven mitt), had us tell her our names and assigned us both a library card with books...clearly, she enjoyed the library time despite being "nervous".
