When Are You Going To China?

The Diary of our wait for Emma, somewhere in China

No more tears

Emma is now waking without tears and screaming.  Over the last week, she is definitely more comfortable in her new home and daily routine.  When she wakes now, she stands up, grabs onto the rail then sits back down and plays for a bit in her crib before calling out to us.  Our monitor has video and we LOVE watching her explore the crib and play with the blankets and animals.  The other day Emma was playing peek-a-boo with herself and Doug caught a glimpse of her standing in the center of the crib bouncing around.  When we retrieve her from the crib, she gives us the biggest grin and makes a crazy, "aahhh" sound, like she just took a sip of a refreshing Coca-cola.

Getting Emma to sleep/nap without screaming is still a challenge, but it's only about 5 minutes of thrashing about...we don't take this personal because even when she falls asleep in the carseat, she thrashes before she gives into the zzz's, so we hold her as tight as we can until she settles into slumber mode.
