Naps

Emma's naps have re-adjusted and the morning naps on most days are gone unless she is exceptionally cranky and says she wants to nap.  Yes, Emma really does shake her head yes when you ask her if she needs to go night-night.  She is waking up around 8am on most days and takes her nap from 1:30 to 3:30.  For a few weeks she has tried napping from 11am-1ish, but there is just too much time between 1pm and 8:30p bedtime, so she gets cranky.  We tried to get her a second nap a little later in the afternoon on those days, but she woke up angry from those 30-40 minute cat naps, very angry and crying, which usually resulted in sobbing at the dinner table, so we decided to try and keep her up for as long possible through the morning; feeding her a mid-morning snack and lunch usually revives her for a bit if she's on a downward slide and there are days we just have to give her the 11a-1pm nap...yup, she runs the show for now because we love the naptime break.

I am LOVING the 2 hour naps and sometimes she gives me an extra special nap for 2.50 hours.  The only downside of one afternoon nap is that if we are running errands before lunch or go out to lunch, I have to race home afterwards so she doesn't fall asleep in the car because that messes the whole thing up.  When we go to Little Gym, the class ends at 11:30ish and I am cursing every red stoplight on our 10 minute drive home because given the chance, Emma will fall asleep in less than 30 seconds.  We spend the drive home singing songs and practicing 1-2-3 to keep her awake.  Emma has become hooked on "Barney" and will usually hum/sing the "I love you song" back to me if I start the song, so I save the singing for when she looks like she is really fighting the snoozies, which is always the last 2 minutes to the house.
