"Waiting Families" Meetings

Every few months FTIA has "Waiting Families" meetings. The meetings are usually an hour on a specific subject and then we break into country specific groups for updated country information. Last Saturday Jennifer attended a Waiting Families meeting on "Celebrating Your Child's Birth Country and Culture".

The program update on China is that referrals are taking approximately 14 months from log in date (LID). If this holds true, we should receive Emma's information by June and travel in August/September. Just in time for our anniversary!

In November, Dr. Borchers will be hosting the Waiting Families meeting; she will be talking about medical issues in adopted children. Dr. Borchers spent many years overseas treating children and has since adopted 3 daughters from China. She has her own pediatrics practice in Eastgate which is near our home and we're HOPING she covered in our new insurance plan. Children in orphanage care experience growth delays and it's important to have a pediatrician who can assess what's normal or not.
