When Are You Going To China?

The Diary of our wait for Emma, somewhere in China

Melting down...

For the last 24 hours, it's been not so good.  Emma is teething and melting down, constantly.  We are toggling ibuprofen and tylenol and letting her chew on whatever she wants, but it only gets us so far before melting down again.  Just now she had a mega meltdown...thrashing, kicking, screaming, gasping...it was horrible, but now she is asleep and we hope it lasts for hours.  We tried to get out of the hotel for an hour or so, but in the state she is in, it's just not possible.  I am sure half of the problem is teething and the other half is grieving/adjusting.  Our backs are killing us from all the holding.

She did play by herself on the floor this morning which was a new thing.  She woke up happy, but then it became a downward spiral.  Today we are really missing home...tired of buying bottled water for bottles and tired of this heat.  The humidity here is FAR worse than Ohio.

Tomorrow we leave for GZ, so this is our last post from Nanchang.

Hang in there. Teething is so tough on kids and being so far from home makes it so hard on us too.

It will get better, We were in your shoes a little over a year ago with a very unhappy 14 month old for the entire 3 weeks we were in China, but we survived (I still to this day wonder how).

Oh Jennifer, I'm sure you're frustrated, but it will pass. We are thinking about you and praying things get better soon.

Hang in there, it does get better. We had "The Screamer". For THREE STRAIGHT DAYS. I think if my MIL had not gone with us I would have died. I would guess teething is a small part, and grieving a BIG part. That is a good thing, b/c that means she feels comfortable to share with you her "true" feelings and not just shut down. You are doing the right things, and in a few days I bet you see a whole different kiddo! I am so excited for you all!
